ENERGY RECOVERY VENTILATION SYSTEM

Humans need to breathe and Houses need to ventilate.

The climate zone In the Bahamas is aligned with the characteristics of a Passive House, thus, Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) is required and should be used.

ERV is used to transfer humidity and moisture from the air in your house. Because ERV is used for fresh air circulation and controlled ventilation, You shouldn’t just randomly open your windows for uncontrolled cool air loss to occur.

ERV has very low energy consumption to run its fans. ERVs have a 75% energy recovery rate.

Ventilation has to happen for several reasons.

(1) smell
(2) air pollution
(3) humidity-occupant comfort, which protects the structure from moisture.
